Tawny Frogmouth

Over the past few months a pair of Tawny Frogmouth has nested in a tree near the Paradise Road Carpark.

They managed to fledge two healthy looking young.
The parents and the young have been in the trees in the area in the day time, but just recently only one of them has taken to propping back in a tree near the carpark.  Have not been able to locate the others. Which is as it should be, given they are pretty good at looking just like a tree!

Tawny Frogmouth enjoying the early morning sun. The sun had just risen over the ridge behind us, and was just beginning to warm up the area.
The classic “I’m not here, I’m part of the tree”, stare.
Later in the morning and a bit overcast
